Glossary
What is alt text?
Alt text provides a textual alternative to an image according to its purpose on the page. Screen readers can announce it.
In practice
Describe a useful product detail. Decorative images normally have an empty alternative; complex charts may need a fuller explanation.
Important limitations
Do not use a keyword list or routinely start with image of. Context determines the right description.
